The importance of safe skin care during pregnancy

Pregnancy is the beginning of a journey to protect, nourish and provide for a tiny human that from the moment of conception solely relies on you. While this can seem like quite a daunting feat as long as you are informed and educated you can be confident you are doing the best for your baby and your body.
Skin care is something that plays a large role in everyday life and can impact on your unborn child. Everything you apply to your skin is absorbed into your bloodstream which is passed through the placenta and onto your unborn baby. It is only right to assume that you want your baby to only be exposed to the best and safest ingredients. It is common knowledge that there are certain foods you shouldn't consume and activities you shouldn't participate in during pregnancy. No deli meats, soft cheeses, alcohol, smoking, sushi, roller coasters, contact sports.. The list goes on; however skin care is often something that isn't mentioned and goes by the way side however can play a massive role in the health of your child.
Specific ingredients such retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid and aloe vera commonly found in over the counter skin care products are not suitable for use during pregnancy. These ingredients can cause miscarriage and birth defects and should not be used. While these are commonly used to treat skin ailments such as acne, aging and dryness the risks far outweigh the benefits and that is why we developed Bohemian Skin; a suitable alternative.
You can be confident in knowing that Bohemian Skin does not contain ingredients that can be harmful during pregnancy. Our products are all natural, made from Australian certified organic ingredients and pregnancy suitable while still being effective in treating skin conditions such as acne, aging and dryness. Our products have been made for Every Body; For Life.
