Has dull, dry winter skin got you down?
If you’re anything like me, the cooler, drier months often brings with it dehydrated, lifeless skin. I love a good exfoliant as much as the next girl, so when I got my hands on the new AHA Enzyme Exfoliant, I couldn’t wait to try it… And boy, does it live up to the hype! Packed full of natural ingredients, this vegan and cruelty-free formula does not disappoint, and will make the perfect addition to your skincare routine.
Suitable for sensitive skin-types, pregnancy and breastfeeding, the AHA Enzyme Exfoliant certainly gives its rivals a run for their money! As someone with a fair complexion and normal to oily skin, I often find myself reaching for products that help to reduce pigmentation, improve skin tone, and smooth and refine skin texture. Recently, as I approach the later end of my 20’s and the big 3-0 looms, I’ve also begun to incorporate products that help to minimise fine lines, the appearance of pores, and the early signs of aging. Luckily, the AHA Enzyme Exfoliant is the perfect all-rounder and targets all of my concerns!
As a self-confessed skincare addict, I like to think I’m a pretty good judge when it comes to exfoliants. And it’s safe to say that after using the AHA Enzyme Exfoliant, I’m a convert! I have quite resilient skin and used to think that I had to scrub my poor face raw, or lather it with irritating chemicals for best results. But since using the AHA Enzyme Exfoliant, I’ve realised that you can achieve the same (if not better!) results with all-natural ingredients… Who’d have thought?!
So, what is it about Bohemian Skin’s AHA Enzyme Exfoliant that makes it so special? I’m so glad you asked! Pour yourself a cuppa (or a wine – no judgment!) and make yourself comfortable while I give you the lowdown on what makes up my new favourite exfoliant.
AHAs
The star of the show! Alpha-Hydroxy Acid, simply known as AHAs, are water-soluble acids found in sugary fruits. They help to gently dissolve away dead skin cells to reveal the fresh, new skin below. For this reason, AHAs are perfect for targeting uneven skin tone, pigmentation, fine lines, and enlarged pores. BIG tick in my book!
Lactic Acid
The most gentle of all AHAs, Lactic Acid is an exfoliating powerhouse, minus the irritation that often comes with other active ingredients, making it the ideal solution for those with sensitive skin! Lactic Acid also helps to stimulate collagen production, leading to younger, plumper, healthier looking skin – yes please! The combined powers of exfoliation from the AHAs and Lactic Acid create the perfect, smooth canvas for make up application as well as allowing for deeper penetration of your other skincare products, meaning they’re more effective so you can get away with using less.
Jojoba Esters
The addition of Jojoba Esters adds an extra pop of hydration to this exfoliant, while also helping to create a protective barrier for your skin by retaining moisture – perfect for combating that winter dryness! Jojoba Esters are also noncomedogenic, meaning they don’t block your pores and won’t lead to any unwanted breakouts.
Coconut Shell Powder
A gentle alternative to the more abrasive physical exfoliants that you may be familiar with, coconut shell powder helps to gently scrub away dead skin cells without causing nasty microtears to your skin. As an added bonus, it’s also eco-friendly unlike many other physical scrubs that contain microbeads, which eventually end up accumulating in our waterways.
How to Use the AHA Enzyme Exfoliant
I know the thought of adding another product to your skincare routine can seem a little overwhelming, but the good news with this baby is that you only need to use it a few times a week AND it takes less than 10 minutes! Although all the ingredients in the AHA Enzyme Exfoliant are specially formulated to be gentle and nourishing, when it comes to use, less is definitely more. It’s important not to overdo it with an exfoliant, so using it 2-3 times a week during your PM routine will get you the best results. I like to start by cleansing my face with the Gel Cleanser. I then massage the AHA Enzyme Exfoliant into my skin in a circular motion for 1-2 minutes and leave it for 5-7 minutes to work its magic! Hot tip - a clean, damp Makeup Remover Swipey also doubles as the perfect tool to quickly and thoroughly remove the exfoliant. Lastly, follow up with a pump of the Rejuvenating HY C Serum for a burst of hydration and top with the Facial Moisturiser. If you’re in the mood, a dab of the Bright Eyes Cream would make the perfect addition. And hey presto, you’ve got yourself healthy, radiant skin in less than 10 minutes! Don’t forget to pop on your SPF during your AM routine when using products containing AHAs; the last thing you want to do is subject your fresh new skin cells to damaging UV rays!
So, if you’re looking to up the ante with your glow factor, give the new AHA Enzyme Exfoliant a spin! Packed full of natural ingredients, it’s gentle on your skin and kind to the planet. Trust me, you’ll be a convert in no time.
